Riviera Maya Golf Club at Bahia Principe Residences & Golf
To assure the residents enjoy an unparalleled golf course experience, Grupo Piñero selected the globally-renowned firm of Robert Trent Jones, II. The architects have successfully integrated the natural Yucatan wonders surrounding the 27 hole golf course. Combined with a 9-hole, par 3 executive course, the resort features a total of 36 holes, plus a practice course and a Golf Academy. Fairways flow along the natural contours of a jungle dense with Mangrove and Gum trees. Cenotes and limestone boulders add intriguing challenges for all levels of players.
El Camaleon Golf Club at Mayakoba
The most famous golf course in the Riviera Maya is El Camaleon at Mayakoba. Mayakoba is the home of the only PGA tournament in the Riviera Maya, the Mayakoba Classic. Designed by famed golfer and expert course designer, Greg Norman, Mayakoba is truly a state of the art course in the heart of the Riviera Maya.
The course bends through three distinct landscapes – tropical jungle, dense mangroves, and oceanfront stretches of sand with holes bisected by massive limestone canals. Norman has even incorporated a cenote, a massive, ancient cavern common to the area, into the heart of the opening fairway. Mayakoba is truly a first-rate golfing experience in the Riviera Maya.
Located in the Playa del Carmen hotel zone known as Playacar in the Mexico’s beautiful Mayan Riviera, this 18 hole Playacar Golf Course was built amongst the lush foliage of the Yucatan Peninsula, making this golf course not only beautiful, but challenging as well. The Club provides a first class practice area, complete with a spectacular driving range, and a large putting green including chipping, pitching, and greenside bunker areas. Playacar golf course is all-inclusive, meaning all your food and drinks are included in the price! This is a great bonus at a great golf course in the Riviera Maya.
The Puerto Aventuras Golf Course
The Puerto Aventuras Golf Course is the only truly public golf course in the Riviera Maya, and is also the furthest south, making it most convenient for people staying south of Playa del Carmen. It also holds the distinction of being the cheapest golf course in the Riviera Maya.
This is a 9-hole course that is perfect for practicing your swing, since your greens fee includes unlimited golf all day long. You can repeat the course as many times as you like. Of course, it’s not as impressive as the world-class courses of the Riviera Maya, but if you’re on a budget, it’s well worth a look.
